Magento to Shopify
Trade Magento's complexity for something your team can run.
Magento stores carry structure that Shopify models differently — attribute sets, bundled products, customer groups, tier pricing, multiple store views. We work out what each one is really doing for the business, then rebuild that intent on Shopify rather than forcing a field-for-field copy.
Scope
What we help with
The work that typically sits inside this service. Every engagement is scoped to what your store actually needs.
- Magento 1, Magento 2, and Adobe Commerce audits
- EAV attribute sets mapped to Shopify products, options, and metafields
- Simple, configurable, grouped, and bundled product strategies
- Customer groups and tier pricing mapped to Shopify or Shopify Plus B2B
- Multi-store and multi-store-view architecture decisions
- Extension and custom-module functional replacement
- ERP, PIM, and fulfillment integration re-pointing
- URL key and .html suffix redirect mapping
Our approach
Magento models commerce differently, so a field-for-field copy fails.
Magento's EAV model and product types have no exact Shopify equivalents. Bundled products, tier pricing per customer group, and multiple store views all express business rules that Shopify solves in other ways — markets, B2B catalogs, metafields, or apps. We translate the intent, and we tell you where the translation is imperfect before you commit to it.
Attribute sets resolved before import
Magento attributes split into three destinations on Shopify: variant options, metafields, and things that turn out to be unused. Deciding that up front is what keeps the catalog clean.
Bundled and grouped products need a decision
Shopify has no direct bundled-product type. Each bundle is reviewed and given an approach — app-backed bundles, restructured variants, or custom logic — with the trade-offs stated.
B2B rules mapped to a real Shopify capability
Customer groups and tier pricing map to Shopify Plus B2B catalogs, an app, or custom pricing logic. Which one depends on your plan and your rules, so we check eligibility rather than assume it.
Deliverables
What’s included
What you receive from an engagement of this type. Exact deliverables are confirmed in the scope we agree together.
Magento audit and data model review
Attribute sets, product types, store views, and customer groups documented as they actually exist.
Catalog translation plan
Each Magento product type mapped to a Shopify approach, with bundled and grouped products handled explicitly.
Pricing and customer group strategy
Tier pricing and group rules mapped to Shopify B2B, apps, or custom logic, with plan eligibility confirmed.
Extension replacement inventory
Third-party modules and custom code assessed for what must be rebuilt, replaced, or retired.
Integration re-pointing plan
ERP, PIM, WMS, and fulfillment connections mapped to Shopify APIs or middleware.
URL and redirect map
Magento URL keys, category paths, and .html suffixes mapped to Shopify equivalents.
Staged import and validation
Repeatable imports checked against the source database by counts, samples, and edge cases.
Shopify Plus B2B capabilities depend on the merchant's plan, configuration, and Shopify's platform rules. We confirm what your specific setup supports during discovery rather than assuming feature parity with Magento.

FAQ
Magento to Shopify FAQs
Direct answers to what teams ask before starting this kind of work.
Shopify has no direct equivalent to Magento's bundled product type. Depending on how your bundles behave — fixed contents, customer-selected components, dynamic pricing — the approach is an app, restructured variants, or custom logic. We review your actual bundles during discovery and set out the options with their trade-offs.
The intent can be preserved, though the mechanism differs. Shopify Plus B2B supports company accounts and catalog-level pricing; other setups use apps or custom pricing logic. Which applies depends on your Shopify plan and how complex your rules are, so we confirm eligibility before scoping it.
Each is assessed for what it does rather than what it is called. Some functionality is native on Shopify, some maps to an app, and some needs building. Long-lived Magento stores usually also carry modules nobody uses any more, which discovery surfaces.
Sometimes. Shopify Markets handles many multi-region cases within a single store, which is simpler to operate. Genuinely distinct catalogs, currencies, or teams may justify separate stores. It is an architecture decision we make with you early, because it shapes everything downstream.
Magento URL keys, category paths, and any .html suffixes are inventoried and mapped to Shopify paths, then implemented as redirects at launch. Where a clean one-to-one mapping does not exist, we list the exceptions and decide on each rather than letting them fail silently.
For most merchants, yes — but not always in the same way, and the honest answer depends on your specific rules. Discovery exists to find the places where it does not fit. If we find something Shopify cannot reasonably support, we will tell you that before you commit rather than after.
